How I Started My Journey
During my formative years, I was consistently encouraged to prioritize diligent studying as a pathway to attending a prestigious university and subsequently securing a lucrative job. After graduating from Temasek Polytechnic, I embarked on an IT role in a company before fulfilling my National Service duties.
Approaching my ORD (Officially Serving Finish NS) date, my peers expressed excitement, yet I found myself gripped with fear. The uncertainty surrounding my post-ORD decision loomed large.
Should I conform to the conventional path by pursuing university education, as ingrained in me from a young age? Though my grades were satisfactory, the financial burden of university fees weighted heavily on my mind.
Alternatively, should I opt for a full-time corporate job? The prospect of immediate financial stability to support my family was appealing. However, my previous experience in the IT role was not aligned with my long-term career aspirations. The demanding hours and meagre salary made me question the sustainability of such a trajectory, particularly considering the fear of job instability prevalent in the industry.
It was during this deliberation that I stumbled upon the role of a financial planner. Despite initial skepticism and societal stigma, my determination to provide for my family compelled me to take a leap of faith into the profession. Over 17 years later, I continue to find fulfillment and purpose in this career path.

Why I started Mentorship?
At the beginning of my journey, the path was far from smooth as many had anticipated. My social circle was limited, with most friends either fulfilling National Service obligations or attending university. Moreover, social media was not yet available.
Resorting to conventional methods, I engaged in cold calling, street canvassing, roadshows, and door-to-door visits on a daily basis. These efforts were not fleeting; rather, I persisted over a span of two years to refine my skills across various prospecting techniques.
Did these methods yield results? Undoubtedly. However, I observed that not everyone possessed the endurance to sustain such efforts consistently. Despite exhibiting more talent than myself, many eventually departed from the industry for good.
Consequently, I devised my own mentoring program aimed at achieving comparable or superior outcomes without resorting to traditional prospecting methods. This system has undergone thorough refinement and tested over the years.
My mentoring program recently facilitated the rapid success of a newcomer under my guidance. Within her first month, she achieved a five-figure income, and within four months, she ascended to the ranks of the top 5% earners. Remarkably, these milestones were reached without relying on any conventional methods.
